Call for Special Session Proposals for the 2nd Joint Meeting co-organized by the American Mathematical Society (AMS) and the Unione Matematica Italiana (UMI) 

The Program Committee for the 2nd Joint Meeting co-organized by the American Mathematical Society (AMS) and the Unione Matematica Italiana (UMI) invites proposals for special sessions to be held at this meeting.

Each special session should consist of about 20 talks (each 20 minutes long followed by a 10-minute break) distributed over a 2-day schedule; it is possible to combine two 20-minute slots into a 45-minute talk with a 15-minute break. Please plan on inviting a number of speakers that fits these time allocations.

Since one of the aims of this joint meeting is to increase cooperation between mathematicians in the USA and Italy, each special session should have at least one organizer from the USA and at least one organizer from Italy.

A proposal should include:

• the title of the session
• the names, affiliations, and email addresses of the organizers, with one organizer
  designated as the “contact person”
• the primary MSC# of the topic of the session
• a brief description of the topic of the session
• a tentative list of people to be invited to speak in the session, including the country where each is working.

The final deadline for special session proposals is October 31, 2023. The committee expects to announce decisions on approved special sessions within approximately one month after the submission deadline.
