From July 23 to July 26, 2024, Università degli Studi di Palermo will host the 2nd International Joint Meeting co-organized by the Unione Matematica Italiana (UMI) and the American Mathematical Society (AMS). The 1st International AMS-UMI Joint Meeting was held from June 12 to June 16 2002 in Pisa.
Located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, Palermo is the main seat of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Arab-Norman Palermo and the Cathedral Churches of Cefalù and Monreale. The city has always been famous for its history, art, music and food. The multicultural environment becomes already apparent through the different buildings and monuments downtown, as in the picture above (ph. Giuseppe Scaglione) where you can view rooftops and domes in the city skyline from the bell tower of Santa Chiara all’Albergaria in the Ballarò Market.
Looking forward to AMS-UMI 2024!
