How to reach Palermo
The fastest way to get to Palermo is by plane. The Falcone and Borsellino International Palermo Airport is situated at Punta Raisi, 35 km (22 mi) away from the city of Palermo.
Connections from/to the airport
By train. Trains run regularly every half an hour from the railway station Palermo Aeroporto at Floor -1 of the airport terminal to the city center. The trip to Palermo Centrale (the main station of Palermo) takes around 50 minutes and costs around 6.80 euros. Tickets can be purchased at vending machines and online on the website https://www.trenitalia.com/ . This train service is called “la metro” because the train stops at various stations in Palermo.
By bus. The bus stop is located at the exit of the airport terminal (Ground floor – Arrivals Area) on the right. The line to Palermo is called Prestia e Comandé (www.prestiaecomande.it) and has grey buses. The service runs daily every half an hour from early in the morning until late at night. It takes around 50 minutes to get to Palermo Centrale and makes various stops in between, which are different from those made by the metro. The ticket can be purchased at the airport, on the bus (and the cost is 6.50 euros one way, 11 euros round trip) or online at the website above, with a small discount.
