Sharp Energy Decay and Stabilization in Dissipative Evolution Equations: From Waves to Fluids

Description: This session is dedicated to precise quantification of stabilization for evolutionary partial differential equations arising in mechanics. A central theme is the derivation of optimal energy decay rates, which depend critically on the nature of the dissipation. We invite contributions on a wide range of models, including: Solid Mechanics: Viscoelastic damping with memory kernels, and thermoelastic damping via thermal diffusion; Fluid Mechanics: The Navier-Stokes equations and models for complex fluids; Coupled Systems: Such as fluid-structure interactions. We encourage works employing advanced techniques like frequency domain methods, Lyapunov functional, semigroup theory and spectral analysis to establish sharp stability results.
