Among the mathematicians that nurtured this field of research, many belong or are closely connected to the Brazilian and\/or the Italian mathematical community. Thus, the Joint meeting provides an excellent opportunity for what we expect to be a fruitful exchange of ideas, hopefully leading to new collaborations and breakthroughs. We plan to invite leading experts and younger researchers working at the interface of PDEs and CR geometry.
